The Parish Council- Main Responsibilities
The Parish Council is a corporate body, granted powers by Parliament, including the important authority to raise money through taxation (the Precept) and a range of powers to spend public money. Planning, highways, transport and traffic, community safety, housing, street lighting, allotments, playing fields, community centres, litter, seats and shelters, rights of way- these are some of the issues that concern your Parish Council. Market Overton Parish Council consists of a Chairman, 6 Councillors, including one member who is a County Councillor, and the Clerk. Councilors are summoned to meet bi-monthly in the Village Hall.
The Agenda is posted 3 clear working days in advance of the Meeting on the Council Notice Board outside the Market Store. Residents are welcome to attend having advised the Clerk of their intention.
