A community owned village shop open 7 days a week.
The Market Store opened in May 2010. It has become the heart of the village taking an active interest in supporting local community activities and ensuring a caring approach to all those who live in Market Overton and the surrounding area. Providing a hub for people to meet and exchange ideas and thoughts it adds incalculable value to our community and its success is due to the commitment of all involved. Following many years of trading, it is continuing to perform well and act as a centre for the village.
Our goods and services
We sell a wide range of locally sourced products:
- Bread and cakes from Hambleton and Bloomsbury, plus excellent village tray bakes
- Meat from Hambleton and Grasmere (pork specialists)
- Fish from Otters
- Helen’s fantastic homemade chocolate – unusual gifts to inspire the discerning!
- Belvoir fruit drinks
- George Shepherd’s honey as well as preserves and chutneys from local suppliers
In addition, we have a wide range of tinned and bottled goods, pharmacy products as well as stationery items, wine, beer and a fantastic range of cards. Milk, bread, newspapers and magazines are delivered daily. We have a limited postal service, the National Lottery and we can also cover your dry cleaning needs.
If you know what you want and do not want to be disappointed that we will run out why not use our ordering service – this way you can be sure you have your favourite items when you need them!

- MONDAY – FRIDAY 7.00AM – 6.00PM
- SATURDAY 8.00AM – 5.00PM
- SUNDAY 8.00AM – 1.00PM
Volunteers
We are urgently seeking volunteers to support our Team Leaders in the day-to-day activities necessary to ensure the shop runs smoothly and continues to provide the goods and services we have listed above – can you help?
As a volunteer, you will receive training and can work on many different activities. Be it serving behind the counter, restocking shelves or helping with the cleaning rota there will be something you can do to support our shop. Whether it is a regular time every week or cover when required we need all the support we can get, so why not pop in and see one of the Team Leaders who would be delighted to talk you through the requirements. We need your support to be able to continue the current level of service we provide.
